How can we help?

Because you asked Mochi to look — either a "How do I look?" check-in, or ambient glances you enabled. The pet always looks up at you at the exact moment the camera is active; the light never appears without that on-screen explanation. If you want the camera gone entirely, use Close camera shutter in the menu bar — it disables every camera code path.

Menu bar → Pause ambient for 1 h, or Turn ambient glances off. Both are one click. Ambient also pauses itself during meetings, quiet hours, low battery, and whenever you step away.

Nudges are capped at five per day, at least 45 minutes apart. Thumbs-down on any nudge (click the pet → 👎) permanently raises its threshold — Mochi only ever learns to be quieter. You can also mute for two hours from the menu, or set quiet hours.

Everything lives in two small local files inside ~/Library/Containers/com.ngoan.mochi/…/Application Support/Mochi/ — state.json (care data and settings) and checkins.log (numeric camera-read scores, never images). Nothing is ever uploaded — the app makes no network request of its own. Deleting the app (and that folder) removes every trace. There is no account to delete because there are no accounts.

A day counts when you take at least two real breaks. Weekends never break a streak — they pause it. And a lost streak just resets a number: your pet doesn't get sick, doesn't sulk, and keeps all its keepsakes.

Menu bar → Switch pet for any of the thirteen companions — Mochi, Capybara, Rubber Duck, Onigiri, Lucky Cat, Tanuki, Panda, Ninja, Little Oni, Little Samurai, or the Feng Shui trio: Money Frog, Pixiu and Dragon Turtle. A rare fourteenth, Nimbi, joins the list once your best streak reaches 14 days. Rename anytime by re-running the Welcome tour from the menu. Cosmetics you've earned carry over.

Yes — anything that can open a URL can send the pet a message through the local mochi://announce link: Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Shortcuts automations, Apple Mail rules, scripts, CI. The pet announces it at your desk, or notifies you if you stepped away; mute any app from the menu. Apps with no automation surface (ChatGPT desktop, Slack, Teams, new Outlook) can't be wired — macOS never lets one app read another's notifications. Full per-app guide →

Menu bar → Desk buddies to add more pets to your screen — up to fourteen at once with Full Care, three during the free trial. Each buddy hatches with its own one-of-a-kind look, can be dragged anywhere, and hops when you tap it. If your trial ends, buddies step off screen but are never deleted — unlocking brings every one back.

Fully. The default mode uses no camera at all — break pacing comes from your activity rhythm. Camera modes are extra, opt-in, and reversible in one click.
